Cambsdance is an unincorporated association run by volunteers. The role of the Cambsdance Organisers is to ensure that the structures and support are in place that allow the classes to occur each week. The holding of the sessions is the responsibility of the teacher at the time, and they have gone through extensive training on how to hold what may come up on the dance floor.
If you are concerned for the safety of someone at class, or should you experience any difficult behaviour during class, please let the teacher know on the night and they will let the organisers know. You can also email the organisers too by emailing cambsdance@gmail.com.
What to do if you have a concern about an adult:
If you have a concern about an adult based on observations, disclosure or an allegation, please see below.
If there is an immediate risk and you need to ensure the immediate safety or medical welfare of an adult: Call 999 or 101 for an ambulance or the police
If there is not an immediate risk: Where possible discuss your concerns with the adult. Inform them that you will have to share the information with the teacher on the night and the Cambsdance Organisers [currently Nicky, Sarah and Nicole]. Give them the full details of your concerns with any supporting evidence. Please be advised that the organisers, have to accept the information equally from all parties. Cambsdance can and will only be able to address incidents that occur at Cambsdance. They will log your concerns and follow safeguarding procedures in line with the teachers’ advice and that of their governing body. If the decision is to make a safeguarding referral to the Local Authority or police, the adult’s consent should be sought wherever possible. However, if they remain at risk, or others are at risk of harm, you, or the Cambsdance Organisers, will need to report it without their consent if necessary.
